Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Friday tweeted that the state had created an education technology forum to help in idea exchange to improve school education.

Education technology had been quickly growing in relevance since the early 2010s but thanks to Covid-19, it is the need of the hour. Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Friday tweeted that the state had created an education technology forum that would allow exchanging ideas on how education technology can be used for improving school education.

“It gives me immense pride to announce that #Maharashtra is among the first in India to form an Education Technology Forum that will serve as an open platform for free exchange of ideas on the use of technology to enhance learning, assessment, planning & administration of schools,” Gaikwad tweeted.

Education forum in Maharashtra to act as think-tank

The Maharashtra Education Technology Forum would comprise experts from the information and technology sectors and will act as a policy think tank for school education.

It will serve as an “independent evidence-based advisory framework on technology-based interventions in school education,” Gaikwad said.

Tech giant representatives to be part of the forum

“Senior representatives from tech giants such as Google India, Microsoft India, Cognizant, Persistent, Dell, Amazon, C-DAC among others will be part of this forum. Looking forward to explore with them the future of education,” the education minister said.

The presence of such experts would make sure that inputs were coming in from the top echelons in the tech world.
